I'm obsessed with fly design. Not interested in dress flies, I'm interested in flies that produce fish.
What's your favorite fly for 2009, where and how do you fish it?
Can't choose? Don't bother! Just pick a few, and share them. Pics are appreciated, but certainly not necessary.

I know your favorite patterns will reflect the types of fishing you do, and mine will too.

First of all, in the freestone nymph category:
The simple beadhead flash-rib caddis pupa. (learned from a McPhail video)
I seriously couldn't keep the fish off of it in any stream I fished it.
Works great in brown, or any of 65536 colors of green/olive I have tied it in. Sizes 12-18
I don't normally care for beadhead flies, but I make an exception for this one.

More to come...I'm at work and posting in short bursts

May as well put my crappy tying skills on display. My top pattern this year has been a simple Zebra Midge with a couple modifications just because I get sick of tying a plain old Zebra Midge.

My top dry patterns have been a couple different versions of the Sparkle Dun.

Hey, cool, thanks for posting this stuff you guys. I suck, I haven't been able to get around to taking more pictures of the flies I really love this year, but I'll get to it very soon! Hopefully tonight.

Princes Nymph, I use this like it's my religion...MOFO works anywhere. I tie them in a variety of sizes from 8-22's. The fly produces like no other for me.

I also fish pheasant tails a ton.
