Dropping in to say howdy to the board group. I spend most of my fishing time in the local surf and bays of So Cal. However most years chase trout on the East Walker (Ca/Nev), Hot Creek, Owens and Kern. In thge past while on vacation spent many days on the Big Wood in Idaho.
The report for our local surf and bays is slow fishing. We are waiting for cold water conditions to bring in the Halibut, and Barred Perch for spawning in the surf.
This lull in action has given me time to learn some two hand casting at the clubs casting pond in Long Beach. Due to old age and misery my recent acquisition of a 7 wt Echo switch rod has opened up a whole new world for me lol. This rod is a canon for two handed overhead casting in the surf and bays. It has made 80-100 ft. casts a reality for this old dude. All my salt fishing off shore and surf is now with Tim R's Echo Rods they are strong performers.
